Tuscarora Portage
From BWCAWiki
The Tuscarora Portage is an approximately mile-long (365-400 rod) portage connecting Missing Link Lake and Tuscarora Lake. Because of its length, it is fairly difficult. The portage itself is somewhat hilly.
At the Missing Link end of the portage, there is a nice sandy landing with enough room for 2-3 canoes to load or unload. The portage immediately sets out across a narrow boardwalk for approximately 100-200 yards. Then, it climbs for a bit. The trail here is relatively wide and smooth. The portage continues fairly level and crosses a couple more low, wet areas on boardwalks.
The second half of the portage is somewhat hillier, with several short climbs and descents. There is at least one area that is usually quite muddy, as the trail skirts the edge of a small pond. Expect to be in muddy water at least knee deep for a short while.
There is a steep hill leading down to Tuscarora at the end. It makes for a tough beginning to the climb going back to Missing Link.
