Routes
- A 25 rod portage connects to Larch Lake and Larch Creek to the west. This is the shortest route to Clove Lake from the Gunflint Trail, and the only easy access to the Pine River-Granite River system from the United States besides Magnetic Lake and Saganaga Lake.
- The 110 rod Pine Portage circumvents a series of rapids on the Pine River above Clove Lake to the southeast.
- The Pine River flows out of Clove Lake to the northeast toward Gneiss Lake.
