Burntside Lake
From BWCAWiki
Burntside Lake is a large non-Boundary Waters lake near Ely. Although it is outside of the Wilderness, it does serve as part of several routes into the Boundary Waters. Burntside's western shore abuts the BWCA. The lake provides access to two entry point lakes, Slim and Crab.
Burntside was also home to writer and conservationist Sigurd Olson's famous retreat, Listening Point. The lake's North Arm is also home to YMCA camps Widjiwagan and Du Nord.
Although Burntside is not in the Boundary Waters, it does retain much of the wilderness feel, as well as having many BWCA-style campsites.
