Principles
The BWCAWiki is, by definition:
- a collection of contributions from anyone and everyone: a community effort
- extremely easy to edit: simply click "edit" on any article, type your contribution, and click "save"; if the article doesn't exist yet, you create it!
- in the public domain, meaning that it is not copyrighted and anyone is free to use the information as long as they maintain the public domain status of the content
- non-commercial, meaning that no one is making money off of our volunteer work. There is not and never will be any advertising on the site.

Guidelines
The BWCAWiki strives to be:
- written in a neutral point of view (NPOV), meaning that articles stick to verifiable facts as best they can and avoid bias. Opinions should not be presented as fact, but rather labeled as such when it is appropriate to include them. see discussion of NPOV in the Wikipedia. For example, "Lake X is the most beautiful lake in the BWCAW" is not appropriate, although if this opinion is verifiable from references it may be re-written as "According to a poll of BWCAW visitors, Lake X was voted the most beautiful lake in the BWCAW".
- supported by references and sources. Include citations of where information came from whenever possible, including books, magazine and newspaper articles, or websites. References should either be included in a "References" section at the end of the article or as in-line links within the text for online sources, for example[1].
